Venerable Thupten Ngodup "Kutenla", the Medium of the Chief State Oracle of Tibet, visited Mongolia in May and July/August this year. Members of his entourage included Chokyab Rinpoche of Deyang Monastery & several senior monks from Nechung Monastery. Both trips were made at the official invitation of members of the Mongolia Government. Kutenla met with many people from the Mongolian community & government officials during these visits; he conducted ritual & prayer services, consecrating land & blessing projects.
Mongolia has a historical connection with Chief State Oracle (Protector) of Tibet, as the Protector's primary abode was in a remote part of Mongolia called Batahor, before his transfer to Central Tibet in the 8th Century, first at Samye Monastery, and later, Nechung Monastery. To this day, Mongolians have immense faith in the Protector, who is often referred to as "Nechung".
Kutenla also visited the Nechung centers in the United States this summer, starting his tour on the Big Island in Hawaii, then Los Angeles, San Francisco & New York. The majority of time was spend from July 5 to 17 in Washington DC attending His Holiness the Dalai Lama's teachings at the Kalachakra for World Peace. Tens of thousands of people from 48 different countries shared in the memorable event.
When not traveling, Kutenla keeps a full schedule in Dharamsala India, attending to his duties as the Medium of the Chief State Oracle, leading pujas at Nechung Monastery & meeting with friends from around the world. In addition to going to Korea, Europe & Australia, where he has students; yearly, he visits Deyang Monastery, which he established & was inaugurated by HH the Dalai Lama in 2008.
